This year's Annual Exhibition, the Kilmacud Art Group's 22nd, was held over the weekend of 27th and 28th May 2017 and was once again based in the larger venue of the Parish Centre Main Hall. The previous location in the ART Studio Room upstairs had proven so tight for the number of artists exhibiting that the event is unlikely ever to move back there again. As with last year's exhibition in the Main Hall, there was no real challenge for the Group to fill this huge space with paintings, indeed exhibitors were limited to a maximum number of works. Once again in relation to the numbers attending, the Exhibition turned out to be another huge success drawing strong and continuous attendance levels over the whole weekend. The new format in the more open space of the Main Hall worked exceptionally well once again, with over 140 Art Group paintings on show together with the Exhibition of childrens' paintings from the ARTschool sitting comfortably in the new exhibition space.
The Official Opening on Friday 26th May was the usual noisy and entertaining event with Writer and Journalist Patricia O'Reilly delivering a very thought provoking opening address. After that it was down to business for a busy week-end, with the paintings taking centre stage, as they should and sales starting very strongly even on the first evening.
Over the course of the week-end several hundred visitors enjoyed the opportunity to view the hugely diverse exhibition and of course sales continued strongly over the duration of the event.
On the Sunday evening the raffle was again well attended and all of the prizes supplied by our generous sponsors were distributed by the Kilmacud Art Group team.
The Kilmacud Art Group wishes to thank our sponsors, who have supported us over many years and without whom our event would be the poorer:
